As most who know Cape Town and especially the waterfront, you will know that as soon as you show the slightest interest in anything, you have a horde of vendors via-ing for your attention. We chose the ‘safest’, most professional looking heli vendor and were soon whisked away to their office. Sport Helicopters http://sporthelicopters.co.za has been flying in and around Cape Town for many years and boast an impressive fleet of 7 helicopters, which include 2 Robinson R 44’s, Bell Jetrangers, Bell Longrangers and the iconic Bell Huey. I so wanted to do the flight in the Bell Huey, but my family decided that the Bell Jetranger was our best choice. (Read more about the Bell Huey here – http://sporthelicopters.co.za/our-huey/ ). Kevin was our very competent pilot – we made sure by asking him if he was depressed, if he had had his happy tabs for that day and was feeling great. He answered yes to all, so we knew he was our man – ha ha. Being so high up and flying over the ocean was a first for me. What an exhilarating feeling! It was Bluebird’s first heli flip and he just loved every minute! We took a spin over Signal Hill, Table Mountain, the harbour and tried to get in up close to the docked Queen Elizabeth Cruise Ship, which was leaving the following day. I could have done at least 4 more hours, but unfortunately we had people to see and places to go. Thanks so much Sport Helicopters and our pilot Kevin for an amazing experience. If you too would like to do a flip around Cape Town, Sport Helicopters offer scenic tours, adventure tours and much much more.
